- Booming Growth: The number of Black-owned businesses has increased by 34% since 2012, outpacing the overall business growth rate of 19%.
- Economic Impact: Black-owned businesses contribute over $207 billion to the U.S. economy annually, with revenues growing by 43% since 2012.
- Job Creation: These businesses provide more than 1.3 million W-2 jobs, with 90% of Black entrepreneurs employing at least one worker.
- Prioritizing Growth: Black entrepreneurs are more likely to prioritize business expansion compared to others (62% vs. 53%) and are more likely to offer health benefits and profit-sharing to employees.
- Revenue Surge: Between 2017 and 2022, Black-owned firms saw their gross revenue increase by 66%, reaching $211.8 billion.
- Representation: Despite this growth, Black-owned businesses still make up only 3% of all U.S. firms and account for 1% of total revenue.
